Christmastime is Here!

Christmas Event

December 7, 2013

We had one more chance this year to partner with a local event and feature the Media Van. It was a good opportunity to show the Van off to the community and test out some new video content.
Though it turned out to be bitter cold, we braved it with the intention to be present and magnify the Lord at Christmas time outside the Clark House Museum.

Holiday Fest

There were all kinds of other festivities going on around Clark House — which is itself a historical location and very interesting. There were tours of the old house, the local Ski and Kiwanis clubs collecting donations for the food pantry in Pewaukee, and later on there would be a live Nativity scene (for which we didn’t stay). In the warm barn out back, there was more fundraising by several others, as well as pictures with Mrs. Claus and a carol performance by the Civic Broadway Singers.

Out on the Street

All the while, the Mobile Media Van sat outside, playing the same videos on a loop for two hours. It seemed to remind one of how Christ was brought into the world outside, away from everyone else, in the cold, seemingly unnoticed. Since it was so frigid that day, most of the people went straight into the house or the barn to keep warm, only glancing at the Van as they came and went. Once again, Christ was out in the cold, where no one seemed to really care.

But the videos, which were some of the best yet, were constantly playing on the screens and their music could be heard from all around Clark House… much like seeing the star over Bethlehem.

Come thou long-expected Jesus!” was one of the songs that played over and over again; it just made our hearts light and made us rejoice at knowing who we were serving that day!

Emmanuel

As we are learning all the time, it doesn’t always go how we want and you can’t win every time… but Jesus was out on the street with us, and everything he was saying to those who listened is true: “I’m with you.
